Re: Storing a Wooden Flute Assembled?

I always leave my two flutes assembled, as it is then much more likely that I will pick them up for a quick practice. I haven't encountered any problems, although I do disassemble them occasionally to lubricate the joints, as I have come across flutes where the joints have become permanently welded ...

Re: key-pads suitable for open keys on Siccama flute?

The owner seems happy with the brown clarinet pads that I installed for him but I said I'd try the white pads if there is a problem with the former in the future. The keys are all block-mounted, except for the two Siccama keys, which are pin-mounted. As for the low C keys, he removed them some time ...

Re: key-pads suitable for open keys on Siccama flute?

Thanks Hugh. I'll order some regular white flute pads and try those, if the flute's custodian (I use that word, rather than "owner") allows it.

key-pads suitable for open keys on Siccama flute?

I've been helping a friend of mine revitalise his Siccama flute (serial number 735 or 736, as far as I can make out), including replacing some of the pads. Clarinet pads (which I use for my Morvan flute) seem to work fine for the "normal" keys, since the seatings are quite prominent and in...

This flute has gone to All Flutes Plus in London, who will be selling it for me. I would now delete this thread if I could figure out how to do that.

Re: FS: Sam Murray "Muraeus" 3-key blackwood flute

hmm....a lot of interesting and erudite discussion but, up to now, no one wants to buy it. Oh well, them's the breaks. I hereby lower the price (again) to £1250. The system won't let me edit the original post.

Re: FS: Sam Murray "Muraeus" 3-key blackwood flute

I got this flute from a music retailer, so maybe your theory is correct. Actually it's "Muraeus" with one "r". That's just in case there are any cheap foreign copies out there with a mis-spelled stamp!

FS: Sam Murray "Muraeus" 3-key blackwood flute

This is a copy of the ad on the used instrument exchange forum. This flute is by Sam Murray (stamped "Muraeus"). It's his usual, renowned, blackwood flute with 3 keys (long C, long F and G#). It has a tuning slide, of course. It is in as-new condition, is of relatively recent manufacture a...

Sold: Kerry Chieftain Soprano whistle, tuneable, in Bflat

This Bflat whistle (serial number 100608) is in excellent condition. It is tuneable. I don't think he makes these any more. It's made from aluminium alloy, of course. It has a mellow sound. I am happy to supply photos by PM - not that there is much to see. Please let me know if you would like me to ...

flute stand for stage use with wooden flutes?

I apologise if this topic has been done to death before, but a search didn't come up with anything. Does anyone know where I can buy stands for my wooden flutes for stage use? The commercial offerings that I have seen so far have spindles of too large a diameter for the wooden flutes that I have (by...
