(Late) Update: I got really lucky - someone offered a hard tenor sax case on Freecycle, and we customised the inside with polystyrene and velvet. Well, when I say 'we' customised it: the husband did all the work. I provided the velvet.

Is that the same thing as a Dulcian? I saw several of those, and he played one for us. Beautiful to look at & listen to! I didn't try it, but we may well see more of Eric - husband is going back to learn how to make shawms etc.
