Re: 5th "FluteFling" : Edinburgh 20-22 April...plus whistles
I've often thought about making the effort and getting to this event but something has always gotten in the way of heading south from Inverness - until now. I'm glad to say I've booked and am looking forward to meeting and playing with my fellow Scottish flutesters in April. I suspect I may have met...

Re: Hunter's Moon
whoooo - my copy arrived today .... excellent!! It's not been off the player; nor is it likely to be for a good, wee while. The Hurricane (track 2) blows me away
Thanks Callum.
Thanks Callum.

Re: D and Eb flute dimensions
Hi guys, Thanks for the replies. Just to clarify, I really like my Lehart and I wouldn’t dream of just putting any Eb body I could find on to it (even if it did fit) - just wouldn't be right. If I decided to go down the body v whole flute route, I’d certainly talk to Gilles first. At this stage, I wa...

D and Eb flute dimensions
Hello, I wonder if anyone could shed some light on this for me please; never having been able to compare this for myself. I'm assuming an Eb flute is proportionally smaller than a D in all it's components; headjoint, body and foot. Maybe this is a rogue assumption. However, if it is so, is using a D...

Re: Adult Flute Workshops, Scotland
Hi, just wanted to say thanks to Peter and the rest of the Wiston posse for a great series of flute workshops over the weekend; down in the Borders of Scotland. I thoroughly enjoyed myself - and it was great to meet and put faces to names that post here too. Nice talking to and playing tunes with yo...

Re: Wet pads and their care
Thanks for that, guys.
I did wonder whether I was worrying needlessly about the state my pads would end up in - seems I was.
In lieu of rolling papers (being a non-smoker and cookie eater ) I'll just use the edge of the silk cloth I use to mop out with to dab the pads.
Cheers
Chris

Wet pads and their care
Hi everyone, I'm a long-time lurker but first-time poster here on the flute forum ... which I've found fascinating and mighty informative. I began my journey into ITM quite a few years back on whistle but have recently (18 months or so) seen the light (!) and have been putting all my efforts into fl...

Re: Those pesky fiddle players and their tunes in A
Hi folks, thanks for the replies - looks like the way to go is to persevere with the D whistle until I can manage those A tunes fluently ... although it does present a good opportunity to treat myself to another whistle in E ...well, you have to, don't you? As an "ear" player and, as I men...

Those pesky fiddle players and their tunes in A
Hi, I don't understand much about music theory so please bear with me .... I know that I can happily play in D and G on my D whistles; not so happily in A! In order to stay in session with the fiddlers who love to head off into A-land, what's the best whistle key to get? An A sounds obvious - but, i...

Re: Newbie says Hello - and can you tell me what this tune is?
Hi Jason,
thanks very much for suggesting this tune - it's a lovely one and another to add to the steadily increasing repertoire.
I've only had my red MK whistle since February but it makes sitting down to learn new tunes - or practise old ones - a real pleasure.
Cheers

Newbie says Hello - and can you tell me what this tune is?
Hi to everyone, this is my first post and I'd just like to say how informative and interesting I've found this forum while reading through posts. I have a Dixon brass D and an MK Low D .... and love them both to bits! So .... here we go with my first question on the CFWF ..... I heard a tune at a se...
