Re: Embouchure for beginner - suggestions to reduce air needed?
In the last six months or so I've moved from whistle to flute. It's been fun to pick up a whistle now and then and feel the difference in play! I don't want to give up whistle, but I can see that the better I get on the flute, the more the whistles get ignored. I found that for me the helpful thing ...

friends & foes
I just noticed that Friends & Foes thing ... I don't remember that from before (I've just kinda gotten back to this board after several years away). Anyone use that to block someone out? Does it work? As I perused the board again I see names I remember from before and one I definitely always tho...

Re: Your Favorite All-Time Side of Music
The first thing I thought of was the Pretenders ... the first album, self-titled. Great album overall and of course the only tune most people know was the poppy hit "Brass in Pocket" from an overall punkish, new wave group. I was also lucky enough to see the original group live (before two...

Re: Favorite One Ocatve + or - tunes
Sorry to take it all so seriously, and lots of newbies may well be reading what you endorse as 'good advice.' Probably it's not good advice and this needs to be said for their sake, or else they will take it, too. Oh my! As a noob at flute I don't think my endorsement holds much sway! And as a non-...

Re: Favorite One Ocatve + or - tunes
Actually... I just wanted to know what people's favorite tunes were that had a fairly limited range... that was the point of this thread. I know there are lists and websites out there of octave (plus or minus) tunes (and it was someone in another thread that had suggested the thing about making the ...

Re: Anyone ever experience this ?
Towards the end of the day,he swung his gruffness in my direction, saying that I was not playing with every one and I needed to 'get inside the Music'.. I was'nt at all hurt by this (well, maybe just a little bit !) and took it as constructive criticism.. Oh weedie ... you're kind... I probably would...

Re: Low Ds v High Ds
I'm not a session player, but I'd have to say that the high D is my baby. I prefer a very mellow high D (my Alba Q1) and I've found that some of the cheaper whistles aren't as shrill in the upper end of the second octave as some of the more expensive ones are that I've tried.
