Re: A new on-line learning program for Irish

Thank you for advice, I think I will definitely try it, and then share my opinion - but it looks nice, anyway :)

Re: If you're a multi-instrument player & had to choose just 1?

Tough and interesting question... I thought about it when I decided to finish playing bodhran. Now I am playing guitar and high&low whistles, and I consider that playing low whistle can be the most successful idea for me - so I think that would be it. I know plenty people who can play guitar and...

Re: Copeland whistles on eBay

Oh, ok. I was just curious about these whistles - well, everybody knows that Copelands are cool, but these are new ones and I think they are different with instruments which were made 5-10 years ago, and it would be interesting if someone decides to compare it with other high end whistles - particul...

Re: Subject for my candidate's dissertation (gaelic&eng)

Just want to say 'thanks' to all of You once more - I started my postgraduate study and the topic for my work is 'Characteristic (or description..) of english and irish folklore'. But as my adviser is a specialist in literature, we decided that my work will be based primarily on sagas, legends, that...

Re: Subject for my candidate's dissertation (gaelic&eng)

Thanks a lot for your answers, there is definitely many things to think about... I regret I haven`t started learnig gaelic a bit earlier for it would have been a bit easier for me to define the topic for the work - but still I`ll try to manage it. Definitely will try to ask people on irishgaelictran...

Subject for my candidate's dissertation (gaelic&eng)

Well, I am preparing for some postgraduate study and have an idea to work with gaelic languages (scottish, irish or both - for now it doesn`t matter). So I need to pick a topic for my dissertation. The problem is I`ve just started learning gaelic languages and do not quite understand what topic is w...

Re: Folk Metal and other such stuff

From my point of view Eluveitie is far ahead of all folk-metal bands. There is really much FOLK in their songs, but they still manage to have rather heavy sound. Also, one of russian folk bands was mentioned here.. Of all russian folk bands the strongest is (and its not only my opinion) Arkona. They...

Re: High D whistle with 7 holes

Oh, thank you, thats exactly what I was speaking about! Sounds really interesting, I think I wouldn`t have troubles with reaching the 7th hole with little finger - so its definitely worth a try. Unfortunately there are not so much info about Merlins, even standart high D`s... But their low D whistle...

High D whistle with 7 holes

Hello everyone, I was searching for the second high D whistle (I was learning to play on Clarke Original), wishing to find not very expensive high-end. And found out that Merlin makes 7-holed high D`s, so you have an opportunity to get natural C of the 1st octave. As I know, Goldie also makes such u...
