Re: Show me your thumbs! (some pipers grip advice needed)
Thanks for your comments and advice guys! And yeah, I apologize for expecting everyone to have a bellymount for their cameras ;) @Feadoggie Yeah I of course agree with you that what's most important is enjoying the music and not the grip. Though I feel that employing a slightly different type of gri...

Show me your thumbs! (some pipers grip advice needed)
Hi there! I started out with a normal flute grip when I first began playing the low whistle. Mainly because I found it to work out pretty nice and I didn't feel that much strain on my fingers. Now I'm kind of using a half pipers grip. I'm playing with pipers grip on my right hand and a normal flute ...

Re: northern lights
Well as I'm Swedish and living in the northern parts of Sweden I tend to see the northern lights quite a lot during winter ^^ If you don't mind having below -30 degrees (celcius) a bit now and then you could always just move here.

Re: Help me determine the age of this whistle
It's pretty typical for a late 19th-early 20th century whistle. Ah, okay. Older than I first thought then. Thank's for the reply! Do you have any idea of its value? It really does not matter much for me, I'm just want to know what I've bought ;). And as I live in Sweden I don't know much about the ...

Re: Help me determine the age of this whistle
Thank's for pointing that out brewerpaul. I hadn't actually thought about that. Though I've only played a few short melodies on it.
But as I didn't buy it for playing purposes I think I'll leave it the way it is and just remember to avoid putting that piece of led into my mouth

Help me determine the age of this whistle
Hi there, A short while ago I came over what looks to be an older Generation tin whistle in the key of F. I bought it for almost nothing from the Swedish version of ebay. Mainly just because I liked its appearance. I'm wondering if some of you guys could help me determine the approximate age of the ...

Re: What's the name of this tune?
Wow! You sound good. I've only been playing low whistle nine months so I've a bit to go before I might sound like that. And at 57, I started late. Keep it up. You've got great potential. Thank you very much!! :) But I'm sure you'll soon be as good as me or even better! I really hope I'll be able to...

Re: What's the name of this tune?
Thank you very much for that Mr. Gumby!
Mike: I've been playing low whistle for maybe 3 years and tin whistle for about 5. But then I've played some recorder and flute when I was young (or maybe I should say younger, I'm only 17 now).
I think I might have found the recording on Grooveshark.

What's the name of this tune?
I recently recorded a tune which I found with the name "TH_slowair".
I'm wondering if anyone know the real name of this tune? I suspect that it's one of Tony Hinnigan's tunes.
