Re: International Culture Check

So if you pick up a stunned pheasant and kill it, is that poaching or not? I mean like yer man with the pheasant that woke up in his car. Dunno. Just relating the story :-) I suppose it's not poaching if he thought it was dead. I'm vague on the subject, but does the concept of ownership extend to t...

Re: International Culture Check

The understanding around here (rural Oxfordshire) is that if you hit and kill a pheasant/deer/partridge etc and you take it, it's poaching. If someone comes along subsequently and scoops up said roadkill, that's NOT poaching. It has been known for 'poachers' to go out in two cars, the first to run o...

Re: mor's first clip sharing.

Also your phrasing at the end is quite off. This is not clear, can you elaborate? Sorry if that's not clear. The words for the last part of Scarborough Fair go 'She once was a true love of mine' and should be played in one breath to make it work musically. I can't sing that to the way you play it w...

Re: mor's first clip sharing.

Try playing a phrase with one breath, rather than 'huffing' every note. It sounds very stilted the way you play it at the moment and the notes need to flow much more. Also your phrasing at the end is quite off. Maybe listen to another recording of it on Youtube or similar to hear how it should be pl...

Re: moonwalking bagpipes

Thats music???????????????????? No. It's from the Eurovision Song Contest which has absolutely NOTHING to do with music. It comes around every year and is best avoided or, as many people like to do, you hold a Eurovision party and take the p155 out of it all evening whilst making sarcastic comments...

Re: Share your session stories

. I think the music we love is becoming more and more unpopular here in the UK. People in general seem to just hate it. It's decidedly getting worse. These things are happening all over the place. I'm peased to say that has not been my general impression of things. Nor mine (although the sessions a...

Re: Where do you practice?

I practice in our spare bed/computer/study/office/music room (a multiple use space if ever there was one). We're on the end of a terrace so only one neighbour to annoy and as I work odd hours I can practice during the day without disturbing anybody. I occasionally practice in either the bathroom or ...

Re: Trad CDs and their Cost

... also yesterday, I bought a CD by Mick Mulcahy from a local traditional music shop which I like to support. It was £12.95 = just over $20. Most of the CDs in his shop - "Celtic Chords", in Stonehaven, if you want to check the website - were between £14 and £15. I have a note of some of...

Re: Trad CDs and their Cost

... I've discovered lots of artists via spotify, artists I would not have known. Same here.....and then I buy their music, either mp3 or disc. Quite often I buy the disc (the quality is better IMHO) and, if possible, directly from the band/artist. I don't mind the extra expense if the money is goin...

Re: Bleu Cheese Question

In the U.K. the average person might have a hamburger once every two weeks. Really? :really: I probably have a hamburger (or beefburger, or whatever you call it) on average about twice a year. Some years I don't have any. Me too. Even at BBQs I tend to ignore the burgers and have sausages, ribs, ch...

It wasn't Benny's hat though - I never watched Crossroads, but I do believe he sported a blue(ish) egg cosy. Innocent Bystander & Ben got it right; 'twas Compo from the extremely long-standing comedy series 'Last of the Summer Wine'. :) It must be a hang over from my childhood. I never watched ...
