Re: Something different from Carlos Nunez

I have no idea of the fingering. I first saw this video on the Lowland Border Piping Society, where they said they were made by Jon Swayne.

Re: Getting a set of student pipes - advice on learning to play?

The book ‘Playing the Bagpipes’ by Bernard Boulanger is a good start. And it is recommended by the Bagpipe Society as an ideal tutor for Swayne pipes in G.

Re: Uilleann piper wanting non-uilleann pipes but knows nothing!

The Swayne style pipes have a chanter with upper and lower thumb hole like some French pipes, yes?
If so, I'm much in agreement with ChasR, although there are occasions when it would be nice to have both a whole step and a half step for the lower leading tone.

Re: French Trad

The Bal Folk book unfortunately does not have many of the recently composed tunes that were in Massif Central.

The Lark Camp music library page has a good collection:

Also this may be a good resource:

Re: Drones and keys - conneciton beetwen them

If I were going to play in D minor on a C gaita I'd try to tune the drone to D. However usually if I was playing in minor on a C gaita I'd play in C minor.

I'm the greater SF bay area I'd say it was the gaita. There are at least 10 that come to mind without thinking too hard.

I've been playing a rauschpfeife about 6 months. Was inspired by medieval & renaissance music.
