The set is now sold! Thanks for the contacts! And, yes, not made in 1906!

FS: Kirk Lynch 1/2 set

http://forums.chiffandfipple.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=8172&p=260152&hilit=kirk+lynch#p260152 Three keyed 1/2 set, Concert D, Mopane. Received in 1906, barely played, as illness and other distractions took up most of my time. It's a great set to be sure, but piping remains a distant dream...

Ain't no one can make a reed like Alan Burton! He's enchanted, that's for sure! I received my first reed for my first chanter about 5 years ago. I told him it was an early Williams, and he made one, sent it, and it still plays, through hot and cold, humid and dry. Sheer genius!

Captain Thompson - notes

Just listened to Ronan Browne playing this at Peter Hunter's website, played on a Boxwood B, made by Peter (and Sam?)...

I don't know what level his piping's at, but I keep wondering if he'll come out with something where he plays the pipes. If he's as good a piper as he is a flute player that could be a treat!
Huh?

The tune is a prelude to a bigger tune called "The Old Man Rocking the Cradle" as recorded by Leo Rowsome on the King of The Pipers or "Ri na Piobairi" its also on an early Finbar Furey recording and he called it Roys Hands. If it's the same tune I asked about a while ago, this i...

Good idea for Boston. You know, you may want to contact Patrick of the Uilleann Pipeworks of Boston and invite him to join, he's a terrific piper.

I've been messing around for about 4 years now, and listened to many wonderful pipers, and their pipes, and I have to say my Kirk Lynch 1/2 set is right up there. As for tone, it is special and as close as you can get... regarding it's sound, which I like much better than a Rogge, or Froment or Gall...

I should also mention that John Walsh is a hoot, and works quite well with Paddy. He also has a new CD of traditional Irish music just released.

Paddy Keenan

Last weekend my wife and I went to see Paddy at Cafe Carpe, in Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin. My first time... and it was a concert I'll not soon forget. One hears all these comments about the legendary Paddy Keenan, and I have to say, I was definitely enchanted. I was carried away by the spirit of it all...
