FS: 5 string Octave fiddle

Modern 5 string fiddle, strung with octave strings, will also take 'normal' strings with the bottom string being a C from a 14" viola set.

Nice edgy & meaty sound.

Comes in hard case, no bow.

£250 - plus postage, or pick up from Sunny Devon.

All proceeds to college fund.

FT: Goldie High D, wanted Abell or Copeland

I had a Copeland on loan and loved it. It's now gone back to it's home and I have been playing the Goldie but not getting on with it.
Anyone in the same position but backwards?
You know the situation, it's a Goldie high D, does what it says on the tin ....
Also interested in Abell
Thanks guys

Re: boehm / simple system ?

So I'm interested in the WHY of your instrument, as I said before. I know what I play and why .. but what do you play, and why? Why does the wooden SS flute make better ITM (or STM) in your opinion than the silver Booooooeeeehhhhhmmmm (or whatever)? Personally, I play a nickel (silver plated) boehm ...

Re: Practice pains!

Second that. I had really sore wrists playing a blackwood flute with a silver barrel, I switched to a lighter cocus unlined flute and voila! pain gone. Also, might be worth checking that your wrists aren't bent or in a weird position. If you hold your flute then raise your left elbow, keep and eye o...

Re: boehm / simple system ?

Thanks for the thoughts Jem, I think you're right in terms of 'the developing style was built upon simple system in ITM'. I'm writing about Scottish music, where flutes have only become fashionable in the last 40 years really. So the boehm question becomes more interesting there I think, people who ...

Re: boehm / simple system ?

Of your list of motives (What you're used to / Fingering / Tone / Ornamentation / Tradition / Aesthetics / Other), I'd take all the central 5, admit that latterly the first is pertinent and I could probably think of some others too..... Jem, when you do have time ... this would be greeeeaaaaattttt!...

boehm / simple system ?

Preparing for the tomato throws ... :tomato: Writing a pros/cons of simple/boehm in traditional music ... I'd be really interested to know your reasons for your preferences to boehm / simple system / keyed for traditional music? Wood or Silver? - Why? Simple or Boehm? Why did you choose the system y...
