Re: Are pipemakers dwindling again?

I have a bit of a different point of view on this, even though I started paying attention to the pipes at about the same time as you and have noticed the same things that you have. Back then, there were a lot of makers with "proper" advertised waitlists + pricelists that have since gotten ...

Re: Ebay Items

My straight bass reg tubing section is not only offset on the curved sheet metal bracket as mentioned, but it is also mounted to the plate at a slight angle to line up the key height better with the tenor/bari keys downstream. My set isn't Gallagher, and I can't tell if the same angling would be tru...

Re: Dave Page uilleann piper and accordion player

If Steve Bliven secretly had a Willie Rowsome set of pipes that he'd not told me about (Steve and I play tunes in-person, or at least used to, pretty regularly), then that would be the biggest plot twist of 2020.
And there's been a LOT of plot twists in 2020.

This quote is a pretty good window into helping us understand why a maker would be annoyed at you. We don't exactly get our instruments from Mal-Wart.

Re: Promises Broken

Just a guess, but it sounds like you pissed off whoever the maker is because you called him over half a dozen times at a time that's actually six hours earlier than you thought you were.

Re: Cleaning Brass Ferrules, Keys etc.

Cape Cod polishing cloths have been recommended many times for this purpose by other forum users.

Searching for "Cape Cod" on this board comes up with lots of results, as well as paste alternatives like Peek's polish or Flitz which I believe are all ammonia-free.

https://i.imgur.com/AKUJ7B2.jpg?1 I took a stab at it. I'm just uncertain if #3 + #14 are actually Hunter. 1: Seth Gallagher Bellows 2: Andreas Rogge bag + stocks 3: Peter Hunter bellows (my guess) 4: The bag /stocks that go with #14 5: A shooting block 6: Connector hose for Rogge bellows (#10) 7: ...

Re: recreating cylinder recordings

Modern DAW software (plus relevant audio restoration VSTs) can also do a wonderful job at making old recordings a lot more listenable through the removal of white noise + other extraneous sounds. My opinion is that this would be a much easier venture than what you're suggesting, for what it's worth....

Re: Brag Angus B set

Just a general reminder that B sets are not always intended to play spot on at B.

I'd hazard a guess that this set is one of those sets that is flatter than true B, and that this was intentional.
