Re: Apalachin Dulcimer Tuning ..
That's true about having extra Dulcimers. I see a lot of performers do that. I played at a jam yesterday. I was the only dulcimer player. They played a lot of C tunes. I could chord tuned DAD with the 1 1/2 fret. This dulcimer was new. I wanted to try it out on C tunes. Next time I'll take an extra ...

Re: Apalachin Dulcimer Tuning ..
I play with a capo at the fourth fret for A all the time. Tinny? Not really. I use heavier strings and a thicker pick. Has a kind of mandolin sound. A capo is a quick way to change keys rather than retune. And you can play A tunes with a 1 1/2 fret, but by using a capo the familiarity of the fretboa...

Re: Apalachin Dulcimer Tuning ..
Sorry....I'm usually pretty good about checking my spell check. Good luck on finding a capo.

Weenie...yes. My favorite is a Clemmer made by Mike Clemmer of Wood N Strings Dulcimer Shop. Made of wood. Goes across the fretboard. $21.00. Best I've used. And some of the nicest people you'll ever meet. Makes a heck of a dulcimer too.

Re: Feis Rois Whistle Tutorial
In my world it's a lot of Old Time and fiddle tunes. With some Gospel tunes, and a few Irish, Scottish, and English tunes. Some of my dulcimer friends like my whistle playing and asked if I could teach them. I'm not musically trained, but I came up with a plan and it seems to be working. I've been a...

Re: Double Tonguing
I use the tuh kuh method, but also use dee-dle. Rhymes with needle. Doesn't give that clucking sound. Like my name says, I play primarily old time music. Love ITM and work on it from time to time, but my main focus is in the mountain dulcimer world. Enjoying this post.

Re: Chieftain V-4 low D whistle tour
Well, got to jam with the whistle and have since sent it on to dspmusik. Compared it with an older Dixon, model unknown, a Susato, and a non tunable V3. Used a dB meter that I downloaded to my iPhone a while back. Pretty much confirms what everyone else has said. Susato is the loudest. Dixon, I have...

Re: Kerry Optima review
I've sent the whistle on to the next person. After playing the Optima again, I guess it's not my cup of tea. Susato is the loudest, but not a big fan of the sound. Dixon, I love everything about it but the bell not. Almost have to whisper. I like the V3 but it is not tunable. When paying out in our ...
