So...we are well over a year later. What's the consensus? How did Willy Week go last year? How about this year?

Re: Transitioning from keyless to keyed
Hi! Thanks for your reply- I'm sure no one passed over it for any other reason than either it did not apply to them or they forgot or something else. At the end of the day, 1 year in on the keyed flute, it's such a natural thing now. Bottom line for folks transitioning is this: Keep working at it an...

Re: Transitioning from keyless to keyed
Although this post has been viewed over 1200 times at the moment of me posting this (and zero people have responded), I thought it'd be prudent for me to share this as a resource for the next person that comes along and is seeking some of the same information. There are several historical documents ...

Re: Swannanoa
I see no one responded to your post. I hope it was good! I've considered going before but not in the season of life to make it work yet. Probably will once the kids are grown and gone, or I may try to sneak up there a tad sooner. I hope your week was great.

Ah, maybe that is why the helicopter looks so familiar! Well, thanks for the info. Like I said, in my memory that store/shop was different but maybe I'm a bit backwards on some details.

Re: Trying a handful of top-end Rudall Style 8-key Flutes
This is a delightful little read. There's an 8 key Butler that I've been eyeing and I wonder how it would sound in my hands. I love my Copley 6 key but you know how it goes, you see other stuff and just want to give it a go. The Butler I'm looking at is Cocus.

Re: A shop at the end of Fisher Street, Doolin
Mr Gumby, Thanks for the photo.
From what I can see, it appears that this shop is quite a bit shallower in depth from front to back than what I remember in 2004. I wonder when this photo was taken.

A shop at the end of Fisher Street, Doolin
Back in 2004 I traveled to Ireland for a week-long Summer Music school program called Meitheal. Near the end of my trip I visited Doolin for a day and while there I walked down to the end of Fisher Street to the area that has the ferry. There was a shop down there that I went in to and bought a soft...

Re: Well, hello there!
Tyler, welcome back to playing the music. You spent a considerable amount of time putting all that info out, I could not resist responding. I took about a 18 year break and came back a year ago. It's flown by, but with all the resources we have now online (an explosion of sites and versions and just...

I absolutely adore my Copley 6 key. I think you will find Dave most easy to work with.

Re: What's the point of the short F natural key?
Historically, the short F came before they added the long F. It might have something to do with F-natural fingerings (XXX XOX?) from the baroque one-key flute, but I'm not sure about that. I personally use the long-F key much more readily than the short-F, although the latter seems to be the prefer...
