Re: Humphrey D+ Whistle Questions

I had a Humphrey D+ back about 2005 or so. It uses a larger C bore. Lovely whistle of course and Humphrey's prices are very reasonable for a handmade whistle. My impressions were that the added low note turned out to be more of a novelty than a usable tool. The bore is larger so you have to drive th...

Re: What is Whoad?

One of the cures for whistle acquisition disorder is to put your affections on another instrument. Whistles are relatively inexpensive compared to other instruments like flutes, pipes, accordions and concertinas! I can speak from experience. :D

Re: O'Riordan contact information?

Paul,
I have a friend that lives 5 minutes away who has a separate D and C metal version if you need any measurements taken with a micrometer.

Cheers,

Re: Difference between small and standard bore on Goldie whi

I few years ago I bought a Goldie narrow bore G from Colin. Unfortunately I haven't played a regular bore G so I couldn't give you a comparison. My impressions about the narrow bore G were that the lower notes sounded fine but they were a little touchy on the breath pressure to get the notes to play...

Re: "Restricted" Kerry Pro Low D

Mike,
Since you already own a Goldie low D with medium back pressure, you could buy one for comparison and be the first person to do an in depth review!
Just think of what a valuable contribution you could make to the whistle community!

We would all be incredibly grateful!

Thanks in advance.

Re: Choosing a high D

Mike, It sounds like you've got your work cut out for you. Finding one good D whistle is an ongoing process. A few years back I sold all my high end whistles that I didn't particularly love. Not that they weren't good or lovable but when you have a box of high end whistles sitting around not being u...

Re: Choosing a high D

Mike, You've spent many years, bought and sold many low whistles to find the one that you like and I dare say that finding the right soprano D whistles might take a similar effort. From my experience the jump between the Low D and the high D are quite different. You might have to put your expectatio...

Re: Choosing a high D

Mike, The Lofgren D is not a quiet whistle. I thought you had a Lofgren already and sold it? If I am playing around the house I prefer to play my Timothy Potter whistle. It is a small bore, thin walled trad whistle. Not exactly what you wanted but anything on the quieter side is going to have a smal...

Re: Gianfranco in concert playing his Reyburn Hi D

Reynoldo,

I am curious if what the specs are on the whistle he is playing? Narrow bore or session? Brass or aluminum.

I have one of your narrow bore brass whistles that has been one of my favorite whistle for years.

Thanks,

Nathan

Re: What happened to the C&F Main Website?

Thanks for the update!

I'm sure Dale would do well in the circus as a fire juggler or maybe even a lion tamer as it would seem to fit his skill set, along with an occasional tune on his whistle!!

Cheers,
Nate
