I'm moving to Oneonta, New York next week for a new gig. . . are any of you all aware of any sessions in that area (it's only about 30 minutes from East Durham)? Already checked the session board for listings but came up short. . .

Darn good session-if anything too much of a good thing, averaging between 10-25 musicians. The atmosphere is very friendly and sociable. Wit's End session is on hiatus for...

Thanks all for the academic sources...always very much appreciated. Is O'Neill's book considered to be outdated then? It sounds like maybe it is... You know-I was a bit hesitant to place that excerpt on the board, however, I figured (what the heck) if my facts were wrong I'd certainly hear about it ...

If you're gonna question the validity of any academic information (which happens all the time in academia) then ya gotta give sources to support your argument, and those same sources should be academic in nature not just "I saw a slide show...and this is what I think, and maybe you should talk ...

Really? Do you have a source? I am always appreciative of new sources, particularly as regards academic writing (and I will be submitting this paper in full to a journal-I do want to make sure my information is as correct as possible). Perhaps you could share? The information I quoted was taken from...

Here's an excerpt from a paper I wrote regarding upiping/issues related to upiping: The Uilleann pipes are a fairly recent development in Irish history, having evolved from the warpipe or Piob Mar in the early 1700s (Vallely, 1999, p. 410). O'Cainainn (1978, p. 81) contends that the Irish mouth blow...

Here's my sad, sad tale of my inability to mix playing with alcohol: A couple of years ago, while inviting people to my semi-annual house party/rockin' session, I mistakenly told everyone that the party started at 9:00 (instead of 8, like I always do-with the thinking that you say 8, and everybody s...
