Re: Thoughts about the Melody Flute from Laurel MD
Hello, l live somewhat close to Laurel, MD. I have never heard or seen this particular type of fife before. I have a metal fife that I purchased at Stone Mountain, GA. The fingering may be like a colonial/civil war fife used by Fife and Drum Corps here in the eastern part of the US. Ed Boyle at beaf...

I don't think too many folks would be clammering to see my face. I'm cute but average.

Re: Sarvis-berry, serviceberry, shadblow, saskatoon
Dear goode Dwest, I think shadblow is another name for service berry. I am going to purchase shadblow along with a few other such lovely trees for my yard devastated by this winter's blizzards. The birds love the berries. I love birds so it is a perfect match for me.

Re: contacting whistle and drum - Lon Dubhs
Dear gentle sponge, I would try contacting Whistle and Drum's manager, Gabby Leavitt, either via phone or email. I inquired about a particular whistle that they carry and she wrote back to me via email fairly quickly. I wouldn't give up just yet.

Re: Suggestions for beginners books?
Debbie Wilkinson's site is a great video tutorial:
http://www.tinwhistletutorials.com/index.asp
I would recommend Grey Larson's books and LE McCullogh's classic tutorial books is great. I have learned alot from it.
Father Dun's Video lessons are great too.
Good luck.

Re: Help me choose a highend whistle
I love my Sindt. It is my favorite whistle. I use 0XXX00 or even 0XXXX0 for C nat. It works for me. It has he exact sound I like and is just incredibly easy to play. I don't know how John does it but whatever it is it is 100% spot on. Also, I have a Dixon heavy brass (thick-walled) tube high D whist...

Re: Asking for help: tuning slide of my Burke whistle is blocked
I own two small strap wrenches that I have used for a number of things like open the lids of very small bottles of paint that get dried shut and are near impossible to open any other way. Those probably would work on a stuck
tuning slide.
tuning slide.

Let us not forget gals who play rugby. Sheesh, I got wall-slammed by a drunk female rugby player in college so many decades ago. She was a real amazon she was!

Re: T Dixon Alto G
The DX203 is also a very very good self defense whistle. It can double as an effective truncheon if you are attacked by a mugger or crazed software developer. They really are nice instruments for the money. The show very good engineering and quality control.

Re: T Dixon Alto G
Dear Mr. Ian, I too find the three Dixons I own exquisite. I must insist though that you repent your clubbing honky tonk ways and play ecclessiastical music on the whistle at your nearest house of worship. I just acquire a Dixon dx203, heavy thick walled whistle. It plays very nice. I find it a bit ...

Daniel, 40 mm grenade launcher? I have thought for sometime that an "assault whistle" that double as an axe/50 caliber one shot gun would be a good thing.
