Re: Do I need more than a D whistle for playing sessions?
After the D and C keys, I find the next most useful is A. Sometimes the fiddles like to play in A. But that's also a good time to go get a drink.

Brian McCoy from the Kells is a terrific whistle player and is based in Columbus, Ohio. Michael Burke knows him well. If you want I can probably put you in touch. PM me.

Name this tune please?
The first jig. I like it. Anyone know what it's called?

I seem to be drawn to jigs in minor keys and off modes.

Re: Tune suggestions
O'Carolan's Concerto would go well in that style
Also, I was thinking you could make Minstrel Boy into that style, which would be totally incongruous with it's intention but I've heard the Clancy Brothers take it faster and more lively so who's ta argue?

Re: Whistles Across America: a 9/11 rememberance
Bugles Across America is organizing a nationwide playing of Taps at the 4 plane crash times. The only brass instrument I play is a Burke so that's what I'm playing. No one will hear me but me, but that's okay. My notes will get where they need to go. Join me. 8:46, 9:03, 9:37, 10:03 EDT John, if yo...

Re: Whistles Across America: a 9/11 rememberance
I live on 6 acres and the neighbors are a good 300 yards away. But it was a beautiful sunshiny morning, not unlike that day in 2001, and the trees heard, and the birds heard, and the great big interconnected ether of somethingness heard, and that's all that matters.

Re: The Frieze Britches
I love the version of Frieze Britches in Planxty's 'Cunla'. I've listened to it probably two hundred times.

Re: CP: The Freeman tweaked key of A Generation is here!
I have a Shaw A and the spacing is okay (better for me than a Sausato which I played once) and I recently played a Chieftain which had amazing hole spacing. Can anyone compare Jerry's spacing with the Shaw or the Chieftain?
