Hi Gentlemanpiper.
Just to let you know, Paddy O'Hare makes my own reeds and I highly recommend him. He has a great knack for reeding different chanters. He'll be a great pipemaker in a few years too.

Cheers everybody for your concern and helpful suggestions. Greatly appreciated. I'm getting things sorted at the moment, a chanter and drones I think which should tide me over until ..... my pipes return  Anyway, I would appreciate it if you could still keep a keen eye out for them. It could be...

Cheers Joseph,
I know, they should be easily recognisable but it's now into the 4th day of being mising and I'm not holding my breath. I just hope the person who has them isn't some sort of fiend who could just cast them into a river or something. :(

Pipes missing!

Hi fellow pipers, I'm in a bit of a panic at the moment. I've just returned from a gig in Zaragoza/Spain where my pipes went missing. I'm basically playing a waiting game and am unable to work until they show up. I would very much appreciate it if you could keep a keen eye out for them and if you ha...

Ok! Are you saying it's alright for pipes to be taken into different musical genres or not? Going by steampackets comments, I think he's saying it is. Good, we're getting somewhere! And Djm, you're sitting on the fence as usual. As I said before, once you can master the heart and soul of the instrum...

Hello Djm, First of all, you have to be able to master the chanter before you even contemplate going anywhere near the regulators. I've heard so many that haven't and it does nothing for the sound of the instrument. Secondly, as you already know, the drones can only be used in certain keys as can th...

Hello Djm, Sorry for the late reply but anyway.. One last thought from a member of the great unwashed, one might ask if this hypothetical piper you mention is not, perhaps, satisfied with ITM or with traditional styles/techniques, so that he/she feels the need to go elsewhere for fulfillment. Is the...

Hi Patrick, How did we ever miss those two Latinas! Must have been the crack! Anyway, I've one more thing to add to this topic. It's basically what I've been saying all along but in a much more condensed fashion. Question: What makes a great piper? Say a piper had the technique, feeling, flai...
