Re: Highest key whistle

[Thread revival. - Mod] The first "Tiny D Whistle" I made started out as a Christmas tree ornament per end user request. The first one had a hook in the back for mounting on the tree and yet it was still designed to play in tune. Then someone wanted a way to play it so I designed one with...

Re: New style whistle heads

Sorry about the delay. I used Arthur Benade's formulas. I stopped making instruments in 2020 due to numbness in fingers from a nerve pinch in the neck. Standard stuff: Nominal Length = 34500 / Frequency Hz / 2 Bore Dia 2a (cm) = (Bore inches Dia.) / 0.3937 Tonehole Dia 2b (cm) = (Tonehole Inches Dia...

Re: New style whistle heads

Thanks for the comments on the whistle anatomy illustrations. I drew those up for my "Whistle Makers Anthology Book" many years ago to help fill a void in information at the time. Hello Terry, I used to take for each tonehole a value that I called "cutoff ratio", which is the Ton...

tinwhistles.us domain name

I'm let go of my tinwhistles.us domain name. Does anyone here want it? I'm not charging for it so whoever wants it will need to purchase it from the registrar, it is very close to expiration. We can arrange a transfer - although I'm not totally certain how this is done. If so, let me know soon by em...

Closing Internet portion of business, doing new things

I'm closing my Jubilee Music Instrument Co Internet business of sell handmade whistles online. I'll still make some things by special order but will not be a site with a "shopping cart" to choose things. The books like "Whistle Makers Anthology" and others will continue to be ava...

Re: UNDERCUT Whistle Blade - seen any good examples?

Undercutting is really depending on how the rest of the whistle is made. Lot of factors involved (here's a few - but not limited to this) 1. Shape of the windway. 2. Type of windway chamfer. 3. Is the windway floor at the same level as the inside bore surface? As the other posters stated, it is much...

Re: 3d printed whistle

You should try printing in in ABS then it can be smoothed using Acetone vapors.

Re: Photos of your collection!

Hello guys, Benjamin is right about the key noise. I'm making new keys on the 3D printer that are made of ABS and a lot quieter. I hope to get a swap out set made up to replace existing keys on basswhistles out there. Also, the Basswhistles are going into a book that will have all the drawings and O...

[Thread revival. - Mod] Yesterday was the memorial of Wounded Knee, which happened Dec 29, 1890. While none of my direct descendants were from Wounded Knee (there were few survivors). My Great Grandmother was pulled out of that part of the country in 1868, at one years old. It was shortly after the...

CP - Commercial Post - Jubilee Music Instrument Co.

The homemade (non-3D printed) Bingamon Low-D whistle will be available for few days at the low price of $20. After Dec 12th 2017, that temporary offer will expire. Also, the time limit is set so that I can try to make these deliverable as a Christmas deadline. I can do some limited quantity orders, ...
