Re: Caption Contest

The Caption Contest is closed. Thank you all for being big part players in my evil plan. Mwa-ha-ha. I enjoyed all the entries on different levels. The winning entry, below, is only funny because it's true. Don't worry about those left over parts; they alway throw in a few extra. I won!!!!! IwonIwon...

They might have olives garnishing martinis, for instance.
Not to mention those tiny little onions that go in gibsons.

But they also had some excellent asparagus hollandaise and fresh creamed spinach.

Check the menu pictures out. Excellent food p0rn.

John's Grill . http://clog.dailycal.org/wp-content/uploads/2008/10/johns-grill.jpg It's somewhere downtown. Sam Spade ate there, and I think they have one of the Maltese Falcons from the film. The oysters wellington are to die for, probably the second best meal I've had over ten years of life on th...

Re: Remembering Y2K

I did nothing, aside from minor alcohol consumption and farting around with the kids at home. But I had just spent the last four months fast-tracking an HR/payroll software installation that ordinarily takes 9 months to a year. The client, a very large community college district, had discovered in J...

Re: Fried chicken

My grandmother used to save bacon grease to fry chicken in. battered and fried in a huge cast iron skillet. It was wonderful! Ah, the old can of bacon grease on the back of the stove. You could fry a battered dirt clod in it, and it would be tasty. Mother gonzo used to fix chcken just like Walden d...

My fish are. And so is the lizard. And you know why they are perfect? Because they crap where you want them to and do not have to be let out.

Re: Average Cats

My distaste for cats is visceral, and groundless. I think it's a DNA thing. My distaste for cats is empirical, based on having had some. It may be a DNA thing, too, but it would be the cat's DNA and not mine. Every cute little kitty has within it the DNA code to turn into a peeing, geriatric nightm...

Re: Need help to organise an office into a passable choir!

Are they getting paid for this, or is it after-hours "team-building"?

If the latter, it doesn't make any difference what kind of music you bring, as there are guaranteed to be crappy atitudes all 'round.

Re: Cooking request: cornbread

Be very careful with the self-rising mixes if gluten is an issue.

Both Marth White White Self-Risingand Marthe White Yellow Self-Rising contain wheat flour.

The Tenda-Bake doesn't appear to.
