Hmmmm.... . . . there are only about 20,000 or 30,000 islands in the Pacific. I will have to check my directory to see how many people I know there. Guess the fair way to decide would be the first one to send me a round trip ticket with a few days in a nice hotel, gets the complementary whistle del...

Wow, sad news! What an influence he had on the world. I wouldn't be playing whistles today if I hadn't seen a guy playing an Overton in a pub in Ireland ten years ago. It was a life changing moment.

If you scroll down that page, you'll also find a D whistle that he sells for $21, so you don't need to be disappointed that I won't sell any of mine. :) I have one of those D's. It's lovely and quiet. Very nice for playing in the house in the evening. I really enjoy it. What are the PVC versions li...

I have five of his whistles, and they are very, very good. Wanna sell one? :) KAC Thanks, Kenny, but nope. But his whistles aren't expensive, depending on which model you get. My favorite non-wooden one is his tunable pvc Bb, and he only charges $40 plus shipping. http://chiffboard.mati.ca/viewtopi...

Hi, Late as usual, I nominate the Swedish tune Ljugaren . It is probably the saddest I've ever heard, especially when played on a säckpipa (Nordic bagpipe), an instrument which always makes me feel gloomy just by the sound it makes. There are a couple of recordings on the internet, check out either...

James, you are of course welcome to post any questions you have here, but just FYI, there is also a site devoted to playing whistles in church (or just for your own worship, whatever). In any case, there's Christian whistler website. Give us a look:

It might not sound great on your own, but add a few other instruments and it's OK.
No actually it isn't. You give yourself the illusion it's OK but it really really isn't.
Very true.

Thanks, Peter, and also thanks to Straycat. You're welcome, I recorded, in 1985, the clips Straycat linked to by the way. I have put up another clip of him, as a young fella of 15 or so, playing 'Were you at the Rock' and 'Skylark' from a home recording from 1975 by himself and his brother Mick (wh...

Donncha O Briain Are his available on CD now? Last I heard they weren't. I'd love to hear his playing. I have put a few up somewhere in a different context and they still seem to be there: Kitty's gone a-milking/Flogging Reel Maple Leaf/Man of Aran sizing down the Mp3s didn't do much for them thoug...
