A bodhran question

Do bodhrans deteriorate with age if not played? I have a quality, hand-crafted bodhran (by Fred Halpin) that hasn't been played in about 10 years. (After only a few attempts, I decided to do the world a favour and stick to the flute!) Cosmetically, it is like new and the skin appears to be in good c...

FS: Modern traverso on Ebay

I've listed my modern traverso by J-F Beaudin on Ebay. Item no: 251235045059 This is a great instrument combining the volume and tone of an Irish flute with the chromatic scale of the baroque instrument. It plays at the standard pitch: A=440Hz. Reason for selling: it's too large for my rather small ...

Re: Baroque arrangements?

For anyone else interested in this subject, I've found that Na PIobairi Uillean has a very complete list of such collections! http://www.pipers.ie/imco/

Hours and hours of fun in store for me!

Re: Baroque arrangements?

Chas, this sounds exactly what I'm looking for! A brief search for the Neale collection online has led me to another by one Burke Thumoth, "12 Irish and 12 Scotch Airs With Variations". Thanks for your help.

Re: Baroque arrangements?

Thanks, Mr. Gumby, I'll look into that work. But I was really thinking of actual Baroque period arrangements.

Cheers.

Baroque arrangements?

Are there any Baroque arrangements of O'Carolan or other Irish melodies?

I'm looking for something similar to James Oswald's "Caledonian Pocket Companion" -- music that is flute-friendly.

Thanks.
