which Feadog do I have?
A friend gave me an older Feadog that they found on a trip to Michigan. It's the best sounding one I've aquired. The label reads: Feadog Made In Ireland by McCullough Pigott Mfg. Ltd. and also has the 2 striped sticker applied at the bottom of the whistle. I figure it's either a Mark I or Mark II, b...

Re: Embouchure question
Thanks for the answers. Looks like it shold be relatively easy to switch back and forth. Guess I should really start tooting to find out for myself. I really don't want to mess up too bad at either event. The name of the band is The Fighting Instruments of Karma Marching Chamber Band/Orchestra. They...

Re: Embouchure question
Yeah, the horn. I'm a brass guy (also played trumpet for many years), so didn't associate baritone to anything but the horn.

Embouchure question
I'm going to be playing the baritone in a concert setting towards the end of July after not having played one for 30 years. I've been playing whistle for the past 10 years, and may be playng at the local Highland games the same weekend as the baritone (in July). I figure there is about 2 months of b...

Re: d sharp and d flat on high d whistle?
Isn't Db the same as C#? If so, then you just finger for a C#.bogman wrote:You need to half hole the bottom hole in the second octave for D# and all fingers off on the first octave for Db.

Re: Just got a Sindt D
Nice... Congratulations... let me know how that whistle works out for ya! :) Thanks. Got a hunch it will work out just fine. Bigskybri, John Sindt makes an incredible whistle and you are fortunate to have aquired one. Enjoy your new whistle. As time spent on your Sindt whistle grows, so will your l...

Just got a Sindt D
I've read w/ interest some of the posts about Sindt whistles. In a current thread a chiffer talks about being wanting to be buried w/ his Sindt. I had a chance to buy a used Sindt a couple weeks ago and got it in the mail on Friday. It is a very nice sounding whistle. I can see why it's highly sough...

Anyone playing for a gig on St. Patrick's Day?
I'm going to be playing w/ a few folks at the local American Legion bar tomorrow afternoon (Sunday). No pay 'cept free beer and splitting the pot when the hat is passed. Anyone have anything more interesting they are playing at?

Re: Fake Freeman?
He copied Jerry's auction title and priced his Generation cheaper. Lacking an item description, it's obvious he doesn't know the difference between a non-tweaked Generation and a tweaked. Doubt it is intentional, since doing a search on ebay for Generation whistles brings up more of Jerry's tweaked ...

Re: Where do you practice?
Scotch tape is rather flimsy. The masking tape has worked well on all my Generations and a Dixon, with no problems w/ low notes. The nice thing about tape is that you can control the volume by where you place it across the window. If I close off too much of the window, then some of the notes won't p...

Re: Where do you practice?
Here's a photo of my low-cost whistle mute. The set up shown reduces the sound level by about 1/2 to 2/3 and is easier on cat ears (and human) .... It plays a little sharp, but for practice by yourself, that shouldn't matter too much.

USA: Libby, Montana - 17th Annual Irish Fair, March 10, 2012
For anyone in Western Montana or North Idaho, the 17th Annual Libby Irish Fair will be Saturday March 10, 2012. It takes place in Libby Montana, with an Arts & Crafts Fair during the day, along w/ live music, and an evening concert @ 7 pm featuring Floating Crowbar from Spokane. It's a fun littl...

Re: Practice time?
Do you guys have any tips of how to get the most out of my thirty or so minutes of practice? --cut--- I love my whistle and I'll never put it down as long as I live, I'm just afraid I'm holding myself back somehow. Why limit yourself to 30 minutes? Just keep on playing if time is not an...

Received the following e-mail this morning that somehow got past the spam filter. It's been so long since I've handled such a "huge sum" of money, it was tempting to reply just to string the scammer along. Instead, I'm posting it here, snipped of course since the rest note is the standard ...
