Hi Manuel,
It was nice doing business with you. The Busman whistle i bought from you arrived in perfect shape and i love it. Thax for the advice you gave about the oiling. I see here that you have your Mc Gee flute for sale too. I hope it will find a good home too.
best regards,
Henkkay

Re: Unexpected tweeking opportunity.
If you send me one whistle i could try and tweak one for you for a few euro's and postage. I have good results with tweaking Generations, Feadogs, Waltons and Clares and other cheap whistles. I put a new brass blade in the head and do some other stuff. The sound will then be quiter, the whistle will...

FS: Hamilton Practise Flute
Almost new Hamilton Practise Flute It's a D Flute in aluminium tube with a nylon head. Ideal if you want to try and learn how to play the flute. For me, the flute is still a bridge too far. I've used it a few times. I'm now trying to get to play the whistle first. I bought it for 80 euro's but i saw...

Re: Jerry Freeman whistles.
I love my whistles of Jerry. Especially the Blackbird. And now i also own a C blackbird because of Jerry's advice to take the head of one of his Mellow dogs and put it on a C Feadog. Could have thougt of this before of course but somehow i didn't. Thanx for the advice Jerry. But now i have to buy a ...

Tweaks: The Thread
I have tweaked Generations (from BB to F), Waltons (C/D) and Feadogs (C/D) and Clares. Most of theam to hush them down somewhat so i can play them at night. All of them lost some of their breathiness and volume with my tweaks and thats why i tweaked them with my brass inserts. Especially the nickel ...

Re: Hushing up your cheap whistle
Of course all kinds of sorts of material work just fine. I never tried a piece of DVD case but if you look closely to whistles which have been tweaked by specialists you will find all sorts of (plastic) material. I think the advantage of copper/brass is that you can bend it into shape. With plastics...

Re: Hushing up your cheap whistle
Hello Daniel, Well, milk carton might work also but i think in a few weeks it will get all mushy because of the condensation of your breath. But for trying it is of course ideal. But the copper/brass inlays i use don't have that problem, that's why i use them. I recall a post like this maybe five ye...

Re: Hushing up your cheap whistle
Hello Tommy, I already did that to all my cheap whistles. Thankx for the advice. It helps for some whistles but with some brands there is little difference. But all of my cheap whistles are 'poster-puttied'now. Did you try putting anything in the cavity under the wind way. Some people use sticky tac...

Re: Hushing up your cheap whistle
For anyone who is interested in 'hushing up' his/her cheap whistle with plastic head. If you want to blow your whistle at night but do not want to wake the neighbours... If you send me your plastic head of your generation/Feadog/Walton/Clare/Oak, I will tweak it for you, free of charge. So, for now,...

Re: Hushing up your cheap whistle
on the GEn it is possible but you probably will have to cut something of the cutting edge (well... you already did that...) to make enough room because else you won't get a tone from it. Especially the bottom note is critical. If there is not enough room then you just won't be able to get the lowest...
